Liam Adds His Own Dinosaur Artwork to Operation Geekling Dinosaur Project

For those of you who are familiar with Operation Geekling Dinosaur Project, you’ll be happy to know that this week, Liam contributed his very first dinosaur art pieces to his own dinosaur room!
If you don’t know what Operation Geekling Dinosaur Project is, (here it is), in a nutshell: the Internet decorated Liam’s nursery before he was born with 76 different dinosaur masterpieces from all over the world. He received 2 more after he was born. We ran out of space on the first wall because apparently that many dinosaurs cannot be contained, so dinosaurs spill onto a second wall and cover over half of his room. We may be a little dinosaur obsessed over here. …

Look What We Made: DIY Bathtub Paint

Christmas break is almost over and in looking back over the past two weeks, I realize that we packed A LOT of fun into our time off together. What a great vacation! This week it’s been really cold outside, and after feeling a little restless, we decided to whip up some bathtub paint to try something new. It was so easy, and I bet you have all of the materials already, too!

Happy New Year 2012 from The Karpiuks

Goodbye Project365, Hello 52 Collages (Seeya, 2012! Hello 2013)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Guys, I can’t believe we successfully completed our project365 for 2012. it was a HUGE project and I’m proud of us for taking (AND sharing) at least one photo a day every day in 2012. However… I think a once-a-week model is better for us at this busy point in our lives. As I think ahead to posting just once a week, I realize that it’s not like we are going to suddenly be taking less pictures in 2013 or anything… so how on earth would I be able to select JUST ONE photo to capture an entire week? That just won’t do. It’s impossible. So…

Our Canadian Summer Tour

We sure had a blast this summer. Funny how that time feels like it flew by too fast yet again. One minute it was Liam’s birthday, the next we were in Canada, and suddenly summer break is over and I’m back to work and Liam goes back to daycare/school on Monday.
Our summer Canadian vacation was really special. We were nervous about flying with Liam, but considering he decided to cut four molars on vacation, he did surprisingly well on our flights with little hassle. We had a three hour flight to Vegas, a short layover, and then on to Seattle. We drove from Seattle the next morning up into British Columbia, and our first stop …

A Star Wars First Birthday Party

It’s not every day that a little boy turns one. Naturally, we had to make it a momentous occasion! Liam had a fantastic Star Wars birthday party to celebrate turning a year old. (“Wait, the Karpiuks threw a Star Wars birthday party? We’re shocked!” said no one, ever.)
From the Greedo doll we gave Liam, to father and son (and schnauzer) matching Star Wars tie shirts and party hats, we went very DIY.

Hello Summer

Though we’ve been writing letters over in the Dear Liam category regularly, I’ve neglected to do a general update in awhile. It’s been a busy few months as usual; one minute it was spring break and the next minute the school year was over. Hello, summer!
In my teaching position I work a few extra days in the summer in order to provide tech training to the other staff. This usually means a week or two at the beginning of the summer, a day or two in the middle of the summer, and then I go back to work a week or two before the new school year starts. Other than that, the summer is mine, …

Han Solo Meets Princess Leia and they share the Millennium Falcon

I love you. … I know.
Liam sure is proud of his Millennium Falcon. He’s gotten lots of emails about it over the past few weeks. No one was more impressed by his sweet ride than his girlfriend, Emerald, though. When Emerald and her parents (Our good friends Jake and Jenn) visited us this week, our little Han Solo couldn’t wait to share with his Princess Leia. You know we had to take pictures, right? I’ll let them tell the story.

Look What We Made: Our Kid Has His Own Comic Strip

I’m a little nervous about finally sharing this, but I want to introduce our latest ongoing family project… Geekling Comic: the webcomic adventures of a geekling and his schnauzer. Yup, Liam has his own comic strip now. Yup, I’m officially crazy. I prefer the term creative, though.
For those of you that really know me, you know I love creative projects. And our kid. I collect creative projects like some women collect shoes. I don’t have a lot of shoes, but I do have a lot of creative projects. It may be a bit of an obsession.
