Congratulations again to Herman and Holly! Over the long weekend Lucas and I traveled back to Indiana to be in my little brother’s wedding. We had a blast! It was a really fun time and it was great seeing my little brother all grown up and getting married. And of course, Holly was beautiful. I think fall has officially arrived, but I’m not 100% sure because we’re talking about Calgary, where the weather is never a sure thing.
In my defense, we’ve had a day or two here and there where I’ve thought to myself “Ooh, it’s a little chilly out” as I was leaving for work in the morning, but as of Friday, there have been multiple days now where it’s actually flat out cold in the morning. Had my first set of dental extractions yesterday. Five teeth in total – one because it was a wisdom, but the others because they’ve decayed so badly they pose a potential threat to my oral health.
The appointment was scheduled to run 1 hour, but ran into 2. The first tooth had to be split into 3 pieces and dug out forcibly. After that, the others practically jumped out of their own accord.
We had some issues with the bleeding that didn’t get under control for about 8 hours, which was a little scary – but now we know better for the next set (I wasn’t applying enough pressure to the sockets with the gauze).

anyway, mama’s a school teacher but can’t teach in canada yet, so she started working in the hr department of one of th largest grocery chains in the country about 3 or 4 weeks ago – and she got a raise and a promotion already!

Last week we got good news on the Immigration front; my application for Permanent Residency was approved and I’m able to get a work permit now. The last step was waiting for the Calgary office to set up an appointment with me so I could go in and get my PR card. I was worried it would take forever to get my appointment set, but the letter for it with a date arrived a day or two later. I’ll be picking up my PR card on May 17th! Go me! I think we’re going to have a little “party” on either Friday the 18th or Saturday the 19th to celebrate …
