Happy Father’s Day! This week we (as usual) played outside a lot, including at least one trip to the park and exploring with bubbles in the backyard. We’re dog sitting for a friend, and Mr. Fluff has temporarily become part of the family while he’s here. Liam loves having a pint-sized friend to take on walks, and Winston loves having a dog buddy to roughhouse with. For Father’s Day, Liam and I made daddy a “back rub shirt” and giving daddy a back rub is one of Liam’s new favorite activities. I finally finished the baby blanket I was knitting for our new nephew, Jackson, and was able to give it to him. To celebrate …

Week 23 – 52 Collages 2013
This week we saw airplanes at the local airport’s fly-in pancake breakfast, watched our two dear friends Laura and Adam get married, and PLAYED OUTSIDE A LOT! Lots of time was spent enjoying the sunshine at the park in our neighborhood, in the backyard, and at a friend’s house where several of us met to have a crafty mama / kid playdate get-together. We also went out for sushi one night this week! I sure do love summertime and all of its outdoor adventures.

Week 22 – 52 Collages 2013
Hello, summer! It was Liam’s last week of (pre)school before breaking for the summer, and of course, he got a double ear infection the second-to-last day and had to make a trip to see the doctor. Thankfully the meds (and his best buddy Winston, who took good care of him while he recovered) helped him bounce back fast, and he was able to celebrate the last day of school with his teacher and friends… where they had all kinds of fun playing with water tables!

Week 21 – 52 Collages 2013
Yet another great week of weather and outside play! We met some friends at the park, played in the dirt and investigated ants, relaxed in the shade of a tree, and built all the things with LEGO. (Thanks to Nicole’s daughters for donating their LEGO Duplo to us!) At the end of the week, the Howsons came to visit on their way back from Ohio bearing gifts… donuts from Tim Hortons. Yum!

Week 20 – 52 Collages 2013
This week has been full of beautiful, sunny days and a whole lot of time spent outdoors. Liam discovered the fun of running around in his own backyard, much to Winston’s delight, and now it’s all we can do to get them inside for dinner. Liam tried out sidewalk chalk and decorated our driveway. We got out the sprinkler, planted flowers, and mowed the yard together this week. At the grocery store, Liam finally gave Sandy the horse a chance.

Week 19 – 52 Collages 2013
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! We re-used our idea from last year for Liam’s teachers and painted some pots black with a ruler-styled edge and wrote “Thank you for helping me grow!” on the side and planted some colorful geraniums in them. They were a huge hit! It was also his school’s Little 500 Parade, where all of the kids bring in their vehicles and bikes to race on the tennis courts. It’s adorable! It was also Mother’s Day this weekend, and we celebrated with the two prettiest mamas I know – my mom and my sister-in-law, celebrating her first Mother’s Day – and went out to dinner together. It was nice getting to see our …

Week 18 – 52 Collages 2013
Plenty of sunshine and warm weather meant lots of time outdoors this week. We played at the park, picked flowers, and took lots of bike rides. Monkey has been very mischievous lately, “stealing” Liam’s seat in the car… but at least he also surprises Liam with a snack and a drink from time to time. Liam likes to exclaim, “Hey, Monkey!” when he catches Monkey doing something tricky. Monkey sure seems to get in trouble a lot!
In the evenings, the boys like to wind down by playing games together on their devices. It’s no surprise that Liam loves the iPad. His favorite app at the moment is Yo Gabba Gabba Hello Friends!

Week 17 – 52 Collages 2013
Spring is in the air, and our first tulips of the season finally bloomed! Liam is obsessed with smelling his flowers. He’s even taken to picking the dandelion “flowers” … and enjoys picking dandelions so much so that I think we should start charging the neighbors for his weed removal services. We’ve also picked up a new favorite hobby of laying on the driveway to look up in the sky and watch for airplanes. This week it was grandma’s birthday and great grandma’s birthday, so we spent some time together with the whole family on the weekend. Grandpa gave Will and Liam horsey rides, and the boys loved jumping off grandma’s couch together. Liam discovered the …
