Ok so this is more of an announcement and plug for our gallery than it is a true blog, but bear with me. The putting up and decorating of our Christmas tree was a lot of fun and it turned out really well, so I can’t help but share and show it off proudly.
We found these really spiffy blue lights at Canadian Tire and their overall effect with the generic blue and silver/white ball ornaments is really beautiful. The lights give off this soft blue glow unlike any other lights I’ve ever seen on a tree. We’re actually making a few ornaments ourselves, too! So far it’s got a handpainted scooby …

Shorts on a Train
It’s been a bit since I’ve updated, but it’s because we’ve been so busy! Last weekend my parents came up for their first trip to Calgary, and we had a fantastic time. They got in Friday, and we spent Saturday checking out the city and downtown, then Sunday we spent the day in Banff sightseeing and taking in the mountain scenery. We caught the Ladysmith Black Mambazo concert Sunday night, and had breakfast Monday morning before both my parents and Lucas’ flights. That’s right – my parents headed back to the U.S. and Lucas also headed to the U.S. for a business trip in L.A. to work with the MarketWire software …

Il Neige!
Throughout middle school, high school and well into college, I took French. (I must’ve known that one day I’d live in Canada, eh?) The phrase “Il neige!” (“it’s snowing!”) has been a favorite joke in my family for many years. I remember the day I shared the phrase with my dad, who decided there was no way “il neige” could mean “it’s snowing” since there was no “-ing” ending on it. He made the phrase his own and insists it’s really “il neig-ing,” refusing to pronounce it any other way, which often caused me to get all riled up as I would correct him time and time again over the years. …

Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving!
Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving wishes! This long weekend was very busy, and there’s lots of new pictures to share. Oliver’s 4th birthday was Friday, the Flames vs. Edmonton home game was Saturday, and we had Thanksgiving dinner with Jeremy, Vicki, Clay, and Allison on Sunday. (The food was delicious, by the way!) Today we’re relaxing and enjoying the extra long weekend day off.
You’ll find all of the new pictures in our gallery. Oliver’s birthday pictures are under Oliver->Fourth Birthday (2006). Pictures from the Flames game Saturday are under Miscellaneous->Flames Game Oct 7 2006, and Thanksgiving pictures are filed under Miscellaneous->Canadian Thanksgiving 2006. Enjoy, and happy Thanksgiving!

Yarrr!
Our Pirate Pub Crawl 2006 was a success! We had 12-13 pirates in full attire yarrr’ing up and down 17th Avenue, making a complete spectacle of ourselves. We got a lot of comments from onlookers; some yarrr’d, some laughed, some looked at us as if we were crazy, (they’d be at least half right) and the best were the ones who completely tried to ignore us as if we were a normal occurrence. It was surprising how many random people on the street actually knew about Talk Like a Pirate Day and realized that’s what we were out celebrating for. One thing’s for sure: we drew a lot of attention to …
