Dear Liam: Your 7 Month Milestones
I feel like I was just typing your 6 month milestone letter yesterday; how many ways and how many times can I express that you’re growing up too fast?! Time is flying by. One minute you’re this tiny little bundle in my arms and the next you’re this little person with his own personality and preferences; it’s unbelievable.
Over the past month you’ve sprouted two more teeth, bringing your grand total to four! The best part is that your two newest teeth are your “fangs” so your smile is wickedly adorable when you scrunch up your nose and reveal them. (Also known as the snort laugh.) Teething hasn’t been as easy with these two teeth, though, because in addition to dealing with tooth pain you have also had a cold AND pink eye… both that you picked up at daycare. (Yes, you brought the sniffles home at the end of only your second week. That was fast! Daddy and I would like to thank you, too, for sharing.) I guess we just have to accept that you’re pretty much going to be in a never-ending state of the sniffles now. Or booger-y, as I like to call it. Between all the drooling, your runny nose, and the goop from your eye infection, we should’ve bought stock in Kleenex!
Since starting solids back at Christmas, you’ve been exploring all kinds of food this month. Your top favorites are bananas and avocado, but you also like pears a lot. Other foods you’ve enjoyed include sweet potato and brown rice cereal, when mixed with fruit. We’ve found that you’re not super fond of peas, though! We’ve been introducing something new every couple of days, and so far so good. I really love making your food and trying new things with you.
You’ve been talkative for awhile now, but it wasn’t really until this month that you started really chattering with an abundance of consonants. Lots of dadada and gagaga sounds, sometimes in hilarious shrieks or varying pitches as you test out your voice… to which daddy and I chatter back in response and try to mimic you. You think we’re hysterical when we do that, and we love it.
We’ve been reading a lot lately, and our goal is to read at least one book together every day. You really love That’s Not My Dinosaur, which is full of neat textures, and Squeak Squeak, which has a squeaker built in to the main character’s nose. I like to squeak it every time I read the word “squeak” in the story, which makes you grin. You have a lot of books but there’s no smile quite like the one that lights up your face when I read the first line of That’s Not My Dinosaur. (Its body is too squashy!) You spend a lot of time studying the familiar pages, and your hands go right to the textured spots with every turn. You are very interested in helping to hold the book and often like to pat the pages and help turn them. I sure hope you grow up to love books as much as your daddy and I do.
I saved the best for last. The biggest and most exciting milestone this month is that you’re officially mobile! That’s right, at just a couple days shy of 7 months you started crawling. It’s both exciting and terrifying at the same time! You’re constantly on the go now, and the dogs have no idea what to think of it all. It hasn’t sunk in yet that their world as they know it will never be the same now that you’ll be perpetually chasing them. They better learn to run and hide real quick! Babyproofing has become our number one priority. Let the fun begin!
Happy 7 months, Sweetbaby. We love you.
love,
mama
