I don’t know why, (since it’s completely ridiculous) but I’ve always considered a few certain milestones in life to be a requirement before one could consider themselves a true grown-up. Those milestones (for me) included getting married, buying a car, having kids, and buying a house. You know, grown-up stuff. Real commitments and responsibilities. So let’s see…
Get married? Check.
Buy a car? Check.
Have kid(s)? Check.
Buy a house? CHECK.

He’s Here! Welcome, Liam Richard
Not that I have time to blog, but just wanted to let you know that Liam Richard Karpiuk arrived on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 9:18pm. He weighed 8lbs 3oz and was 22 inches long and resulted from a relatively easy labor and delivery. Everyone is doing well, and Liam is of course absolutely perfect and we are head over heels in love.

In the Baby Home Stretch
So with just over 4 weeks to go, I feel like we’re in the baby home stretch. Baby showers have been had, the bassinet has been put together and is ready to go, and just when I think my bump can’t possibly get any bigger, I look down. Little Liam seems to make my belly grow by the hour these days, and I can’t believe it’s almost time for his debut. There are two words that come to mind when I stop and think about it: excited and terrified.
Excited because of course, we cannot wait to meet our Liam. I have been dreaming of a little boy that looks like his daddy ever since we …

Update: Operation Geekling Dinosaur Project
It’s been over a month since our call for submissions went out about dinosaur art for our geekling’s nursery wall, and in that time, we’ve received so many amazingly fantastic pieces of dino artwork from all over the world! I thought I’d take a moment to show you how it’s going and update you on the project’s progress.
Last weekend we went out and bought the first round of frames for the artwork we’d received so far and began hanging it on the wall. Call me crazy, but we have around 8 weeks left and suddenly it seems SO CLOSE, and somehow, hanging dinosaur art on the nursery walls helped me to feel like we were …

Delicious Stuffed Bell Peppers
I recently discovered that I actually like bell peppers. They were one of those foods that I remember disliking as a kid, especially the green ones, and I would pick them out or eat around them if I had to. Then recently while on the hunt for low sodium recipes, we came across a chicken dish that called for peppers and I decided to give these veggies a second chance.
I found out quickly that not all bell peppers are the same, and I greatly prefer the orange/yellow/red ones to the green. We’ve included colorful bell peppers 3-4 times a week lately in our cooking, and can’t get enough …

Spring Break in Savannah
We’re baaaack! While I’m sure no one was on the edge of their seat waiting for a new post, I prefer to keep pretending that people actually read this blog and noticed our absence, haha. Or perhaps you are family or close friends who knew we were gone and are here to read all about our trip or scope out trip pictures. Either way, the Karpiuks took off for Savannah, GA for a spring break getaway last week and had a wonderful time.
Why Savannah? Well, in addition to it being a beautiful place that neither one of us had ever been to, and the ability to be on the coast, (more on that in a …
