She’s finally here! Lila Jean was welcomed to the world on February 20th at 11:26pm. She weighed 7lbs 9oz and was 20″ long. I think she looks just like Liam as a newborn except she has a full head of dark hair! Liam had a little wispy blond hair and looked bald for the longest time, so big difference! Everything went smoothly and when it was go time, it wasn’t long before we were meeting the final member of our little family. Lila is absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way, and our family truly feels complete.
My only complaint was the timing; due to a local flu ban, restrictions were in place that didn’t allow anyone under 18 to visit the hospital. My hopes and dreams of Liam coming to the hospital to meet his new baby sister were dashed, but thanks to technology, we did a few FaceTime video chats so that he could be there with us and at least meet Lila virtually in the meantime. I won’t try to pretend this wasn’t horribly emotional for me, though. Having such a life-changing event happen that would forever change our family, and yet not being able to have our whole family there, sucked.
We came home in the wee hours of Sunday morning, so it was a fun surprise for Liam when he woke up to find mama and daddy finally home AND of course to meet his baby sister in person for the first time. He’ already head over heels in love with baby Lila and I’m in love with that happy, complete feeling I feel when I look at my perfect little family finally all together. Here’s to the next chapter of our adventures! View adorable photos here.
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t take the time to thank my parents for all of their help. They came up and stayed at our house for several days to watch Liam and take care of things for us. They made us meals, helped Liam pick out surprise flowers for me, and helped to make sure that we’d not have to worry about anything when we got home. Thanks, mom and dad!
